Seasonal Waterfront Harbor Assistant

The Town of Wells is seeking a seasonal position encompassing the patrol, administrative and laboring work in the management of the Town harbor and piers. This position will be responsible for assisting boaters and the general public, and in the enforcement of applicable waterway laws, bylaws and regulations.

The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Harbor Master and in accordance with Town policies and applicable state laws and regulations. Must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in managing the Town’s harbor and navigable waters, enforcing bylaws and other regulations, and in responding to emergencies.

The candidate must have a High School degree or the equivalent with additional specialized training in seamanship and navigation skills; the ability to use GPS, radar, compass, and radio communication equipment. Candidates with a USGC Captains License preferred. Two years of progressively responsible experience boating and waterway operations, such as comprehensive knowledge of marina operations, boat handling, and rescue techniques, Familiarity with Marine construction including docks, bulkheads, ramps, etc.

$20.00 per hour
