Preventing Domestic Violence

It is the policy of the Wells Police Department to break the cycle of domestic abuse by preventing future incidents or reducing the frequency and / or seriousness of such incidents. We will also try to protect victims of domestic abuse and provide them with support.

Victims of domestic or sexual violence:

  • Have a right to be safe
  • Have the right to medical assistance
  • Have the right to apply for a Protection from Abuse Order
  • Have the right to be notified of court proceedings related to your case
  • Have the right to bring an advocate to all court proceedings
