York County Emergency Management Agency has expanded the County-wide emergency notification system utilizing the services of RAVE Mobile Systems. Even if you have previously registered to receive emergency notifications in the past, you MUST RE-REGISTER in the new system. To ensure the accuracy of the Town-wide emergency notification system database, the Wells Emergency Management Agency in concert with the York County Emergency Management Agency is asking that citizens of Wells register or re-register to update and/or verify their cellular phones, email addresses, and unlisted land-line phone information at the link below:
The York County - RAVE Alert Emergency Notification System is primarily activated for weather related emergencies to include major storms that could cause extreme flooding and property damage. The system may also be used to notify residents of other emergencies that require immediate attention or action by residents.
This system is used to provide urgent information which may include specific information and/or instructions.
This system is not used for traffic and school delays, cancellations of any kind or parking bans.
IMPORTANT: If your contact information is not in the database, the system cannot notify you. The York County - RAVE Alert Emergency Notification System uses listed land-line phone numbers in the 911 database*, and also gives individuals and businesses the ability to add phone numbers and email addresses directly into the system. The information collected by RAVE for the York County system is secure and is only used for emergency notification (your information is never shared).
Town of Wells officials urge all individuals and businesses to log onto the Town of Wells website at www.wellstown.org and select the “RAVE Alert Sign Up” link on the homepage. You may also log onto the York County website at www.yorkcountyme.gov and follow the link to the “RAVE Alert Sign Up” page. Those without Internet access may call the York County Emergency Management Agency at 207-324-1578, Monday - Friday, 8am to 4pm to supply information by phone.
Cellular phone users require registration directly into the system, as “cellular phone numbers” are not part of the 911 database. Additionally, all individuals who have unlisted phone numbers or who have changed their provider, phone number or address within the past year should login, update, and verify their information. Those who use VoIP or Cable for their phone service should also verify their information. Required information includes first and last name, street address (no P.O. Boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number; additional phone numbers can be entered also. A physical address is required to ensure that contact information is associated with a geographic location.
Participation in the York County - RAVE Alert Emergency Notification System is free to all Wells residents.
Questions should be directed to the York County Emergency Management Office at 207-324-1578.
*Registering your land-line number will help to ensure the accuracy of your contact information in the system.
