Absentee Ballot Information

Make sure you have a voice in your future - cast a ballot. View the Sample Ballot here.

Absentee Ballots are available at the Town Clerk's Office during normal business hours 30-days prior to an election.

If you would like to vote by absentee ballot but are unable to come to the Town Clerk's Office during normal business hours to vote in person, contact the staff in the Clerk's Office @ 207-646-2882 to request a ballot by mail.

The voter must call the office, as family members cannot request a ballot for another family member by telephone. Immediate family members can request an absentee ballot for another family member by completing an application form and filing it with the staff in the Town Clerk's Office.

If you need any additional information regarding absentee voting please call the office at 207-646-2882.

*NEW STATE LAW REGARDING ABSENTEE VOTING - PLEASE READ*
PL 2011, Chapter 399, Absentee Provisions
Effective date of this law was September 28, 2011

Section 22 (Title 21-A, 753-B, sub-1), Section 23 (Title 21-A, 753-B, sub-2) andSection 24 (Title 21-A, 753-B, sub-8) establish the 3rd business day before an election as the cut-off date for issuing absentee ballots by any means.

Therefore, absentee ballots will no longer be available after the close of business on the Thursday prior to the upcoming election unless the voter signs an application, designed by the Secretary of State, stating one of the following reasons for requesting an absentee ballot after this deadline:

An unexpected absence from the municipality during the entire time the polls are open on election day;

A physical disability, or an incapacity or illness that makes the voter unable to leave home or a treatment facility; or

An inablility to travel to the polls because the voter is a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct.
