Fire permits are required for all outdoor burning. Permits are issued at no charge and will be issued for the day of the burn only per the Maine Forestry Service.
Permits will be issued after 7 a.m. at the Public Safety Facility on Route One. However, burning cannot start until the Maine Forestry Service determines and provides the day’s classification. On most days this information is available by 9:30 a.m.
Permits will be issued in advance of the day’s classification being available, however, it shall be the permit holder’s responsibility to contact the Fire Department to confirm the day’s class prior to igniting a fire. Visit the Maine Forestry Service to determine the class day for Zone 1.
